自然あふれる長野にて

みなさんこんにちは。今日僕たちは長野にいます。忙しい大都市、東京・大阪の後で、長野の大自然の美しい山々の景色を見ることができてとても嬉しいです。
午前中は、児童養護施設を訪問し、子どもたちのために演奏しました。子どもたちはとても反応が早く、興味を持って僕たちや楽器についてたくさん質問しました。
このように、子どもたちと触れ合いクラシックの曲の一つずつのフレーズに対する素直な反応を直接見て、感じられる達成感が、ICEPに参加しようと思った最大の理由です。

この後、有名な善光寺を訪ねました。ご本尊の仏像は、拝顔するにはあまりにも神聖であるということを学びました。実際、過去1400年もの間、誰もその仏像を見ていないのだそうです。
僕たちは、人々が長い行列を作って入っていく寺院の地下の「極楽のお錠前」に触れる戒壇めぐりを、体験することができました。真っ暗闇の中を注意深く、少しずつすり足で前進しました。

ドイツでは誰もがそうだと思いますが、キリスト教の中で育った僕にとって、仏教に触れて人々の信仰について学ぶことができたことは、とても素晴らしい体験でした。

Hi everybody, today we were in Nagano. It was a big treat after the busy megacities of Tokyo and Osaka to come and see some nature and the beautiful mountain landscape around Nagano. The morning we spent in a foster home playing for children. They were so responsive and interested and had tons of questions about us and our instruments. It is such a great feeling of achievement (and probably the biggest reason why I want to be part of ICEP) after really connecting to children and to see their immediate and honest reactions on every phrase of classical music.

Afterwards we went to the famous Zenkoji temple. We learned that the Buddha statue there is too holy to be seen. So nobody actually saw it in the last 1400 years. However we could go underground of the temple where a long stream of people were all trying to touch the "key to paradise" as we were carefully shuffling our feet forwards inch by inch in the pitch black.

It was a rich experience for me who was brought up with the Christian religion (just like everybody around me in Germany) to get in touch with Buddhism and learn something about their beliefs.

昨日の夜長野入りし、今朝は清々しい気分で会場に到着しました。
トニーと私はEarly Bird組。先に到着して念入りにウォームアップしました。三帰寮では子供達が熱心に私たちの演奏や話に耳を傾けてくれました。

訪問コンサート後は善光寺へ。御住職にとても細かい説明/講義をして頂きながらの見学と文化体験学習で、大変貴重な経験をさせていただきました。

お天気もよく素晴らしい時間でした。明日からは毎日移動と数回公演が続きます。
